Database Reporting Solutions and Integration
Information At Your Fingertips
Reports are the most important software feature for business users. Unfortunately, a lot of programmers don't consider reporting needs before designing a database. Once database structures are created and thousands of lines of code are written, it's too late to change the underlying database when the developer finally gets around to asking what kind of reports are needed.
The number one cause for poor reporting performance and inflexibility in report creation is poor database design. The number one cause for poor database design is poor needs analysis.
We Get Reports Right!
Needs analysis is the process of asking the right questions of the right people to properly understand the business functions that need to be translated into software. Our forte is business requirement or needs analysis. We know how important reports are to your company. We make sure we understand how you want to slice and dice your data for relevant, meaningful and flexible reports before designing or evaluating your databases.
If your report performance issues are related to database design, we'll work with you to find the best solutions, whether that be database and application redesign or creating viable work-arounds. We'll give you the reporting performance you need.
Whether your most effective reporting solutions are Java developed custom web reports, or Crystal Decisions, Oracle Reports, Fusion Charts or any other off-the-shelf reporting tool or HTML based reports, Expert Database Solutions are your reporting experts.
Charts and Graphs
In graphic displays of large amounts of information the design should be straightforward. The display that's content rich with an invisible architecture underneath allows viewers to look at different parts of the display and see meaningful relationships. Graphs and charts provide a means for viewing information in a way that shows comparative differences across different dimensions. We process by differences, not absolutes.
Data collection and information presentation for optimal decision making...
Most real-world information is useful only as a combination of multiple variables or dimensions. Our means of displaying information is limited to two or occasionally three dimensions. This has been a problem of analytical design since maps were scratched into rocks 6000 year ago.
Napoleon’s 1812-1813 invasion of Russia is an example of the challenge of graphing large large amounts of information in meaningful ways. Statisticians and data visualization experts consider Minard’s depiction of Napoleon’s Invasion of Russia shown below to be the greatest numerical graphic ever created. It is a creative example of analytical design overcoming the limitations of two dimensional presentation.
